This sample comes from a Royal Navy Flagon filled from the last remaining excess stocks drawn from barrels following the Royal Navy's infamous withdrawal of a daily rum tot to its sailors, on the 31st of July, 1970, otherwise known as "Black Tot Day".
Border Wine Merchants, who bottled this sample from a Royal Navy Rum Flagon, handled quite a few flagons, which the bought at the MoD auctions in the early 1970s.
The supplementary images exhibit a flagon and rum decanted from it in our presentation.
