The bottle of herbal liqueur is the Italian equivalent of a bottle of French green Chartreuse!  It was made just outside Florence in the town of Certosa where a Carthusian Monastery was built in 1341.  The Order had been set up by Saint Bruno in 1084 near Voiron in the Chartreuse Mountains of the French Alps, the home of Chartreuse.  On the reverse label P. P. stands for Personal Prelature, a designation for a body of believers who do not answer to a bishop or cardinal, but only to the Pope.  CERTOSINI refers to the Carthusian monks at the Florentine monastery.  This is a fascinating and rare bottle indeed!
