The name Hiram Walker & Sons is nearly always associated with Canadian whisky, but Hiram Walker the man was actually an American. Born in 1816, he founded Hiram Walker & Sons in 1858 in Windsor, Ontario, a town that would become known as Walkerville. While the Walker family no longer own the distillery, Canadian Club is still produced at the distillery Hiram Walker founded. The distillery is now owned by the French company, Pernod Ricard, while the Canadian Club brand is now owned by Beam Suntory.
