Before the UK adopted the metric system and weights and measurements became incredibly easy to understand there were fluid ounces and degrees proof.  And so 70° proof becomes 40% ABV and 26.6 FL. OZS. becomes 75.7cl

If only they hadn't changed the spring cap as well, for it really is the most pleasing and splendid cap.  Never mind the gin - which is also truly exceptional - this is a relic of the past and should be treasured.  And then, once it's treasured, it should be drunk.
