Dominican yellow herbal liqueur!  Dating to the 1930s if the glass and capsule are any indication.  A period impersonation of yellow Chartreuse, but made by Domincans not Carthuisians.  Undoubtedly delicious!  Enjoy!

The date 1537 is etched onto the glass.   In 1537, the Dominican Order played a pivotal role in the Americas and Europe. They championed an historic papal decree affirming  indigenous human rights, arrived as missionaries in the New World, and received the remains of Christopher Columbus in Santo Domingo. On June 2, 1537, Pope Paul III issued the papal bull Subliminis Deus. Drafted with the help of Dominican friars (like Bernardino de Minaya), it forbade the enslavement of Indigenous peoples of the Americas, declaring them rational beings who deserved liberty and property.  In 1537, the remains of Christopher Columbus were transferred from Spain and laid to rest in the cathedral of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
