What Detroit is to motorcars, Torino (Turin) is to vermouth and amari.
Indeed, Antonio Benedetto Carpano invented vermouth in Turin in 1786. But as home to much of Italy's automobile industry, Torino is now also known as the Detroit of Italy.
So it has cars and vermouth and a shroud! What a place!
Meaning "a point and a half" in Piedmontese (the language of the Piedmont area in northwest Italy in which Turin is located) the official line is that "Punt e Mes" is one "point" sweet to a "half-point" bitter.
This situates it somewhere between regular rosso vermouth and Campari.
