Russell's Reserve was first released in 2001 with the introduction of its 10YO Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. It was initially bottled at 101 proof and was created to honour master distiller Jimmy Russell.  In 2005 the 10YO's bourbon's proof was changed to 90, and the label was updated to the red version.
