A rum distillery on Martinique that produces the island's AOC accredited rhum agricole. It was established in 1842 and in 1905 it was acquired by Henri Dormoy whose descendants still own it to this day.
Distillerie La Favorite SARL is a family-owned company in Martinique, founded by Paul Dormoy. It manages the production and marketing of the La Favorite distillery and its associated brands and was founded in 2000 to take over from previous owner, Établissements Andre Dormoy, following the death of its eponymous founder (and Paul Dormoy's father) in the previous year.
The company rents the distillery and its adjoining sugarcane estates from the Dormoy family's holding company, Fralinico Location SCI.
This rum comes from one of the three casks selected by La Favorite (numbers 2, 8, and 9), in this case, number 8. It is therefore a single cask vintage from 2008.
It is interesting to note that, as the casks were stored in different locations within the cellar, there are substantial differences between each one.
Each cask yielded approximately 250 bottles, so only 750 bottles of this vintage were produced.
Each bottle is hand-sealed with wax.
Bottle 111/258.
