The first four images feature a pair of boots surmounted by a helmet.  They were made of salt-glazed stoneware in Minigres, Portugal in the late-1970s or early-1980s to commemorate the Portuguese Colonial War (1961-74).  LCL Scotch Bottlers (Portugal) filled the decanter, likely with Highland Tower 5YO Blended Scotch Whisky.  The pair in the second four images were designed in 1975 by Charles Miller of the Regal China Corporation to mark the end of the Vietnam War (1955-75).  Intended to hold 4/5 of a quart of Jim Beam 8YO Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky at 40%, the decanter stands in a long line of thematic and commemorative porcelain decanters released by Beam from the late-1950s through the mid-1980s.  Although not cast from the Regal original, the Minigres pair are similarly-modelled, have exactly the same dimensions and the thickness of the body is comparable.  A very interesting homage, indeed.

The empty American pair accompany the full Portuguese pair.
