by Booker Noe, the master distiller at Jim Beam at the time, as part of the initial "Small Batch Bourbon Collection," which also included Knob Creek, Booker's, and Baker's. While the brand is named after a historical figure who pioneered high-rye whiskey in 1796, the modern brand itself originated in 1992, carrying an 8 years age statement.  In 2014, the age statement was dropped in favour of an "Artfully Aged" label.
