Originally built as the Waterfill and Frazier Distillery by John Dowling at Floyd's Fork along the Echo Trail in Jefferson County east of Louisville months after Prohibition ended in 1933, it was purchased by the Grosscurths in 1948.  The distillery stopped operating in the 1950s and after a huge fire in 1968 was demolished in 1976.  The distillery’s brand was “Kentucky Supreme,” although with changing ownership over the years many other brand names would be ascribed to it, including “Old Boone” and “Old Prentice.”  The Grosscurth name would also appear on distilleries in other parts of Jefferson County, Anderson County and near Bardstown.
When this vodka was produced in Bardstown in the 1980s, the Grosscurth range included Bourbon, Vodka, Tequila, Rum, Brandy & Gin.
