Persico means peach in Esperanto.  As a drink it is similar to Absinthe, but much less strong.  It is distilled from peach stone, and like Absinthe was banned for a short time at the turn of the century because prussic acid was unintentionally formed during the processing of the stone fruit.  In the 19th century Persico was drunk pure, refreshingly tasty with a dash of ice-cold mineral water and lemon.
