This post-WWII bottle of kummel from Dutch liqueur and Genever distiller Erven Lucas Bols (est. 1575) dates from the late 1940s or early 1950s.  Brown, Gore & Welch of Corn Exchange, Seething Lane, London EC3 was the exclusive importer and distributor of Bols products from the 1920s to the mid 1960s, and possibly longer; their success in selling Bols liqueurs and Genever was down to their placing memorable ads in key period newspapers and magazines.  Alongside other classic Bold products such as Curaçao, Maraschino, Crème de Menthe, Cherry Brandy, Dry Gin and barrel-aged Gin, Kummel would have stood at the center of the home bar at the time.  With a weighty and viscous mouthfeel, this sweet liqueur is packed with herbal and spice notes led by the nuttiness of the lead ingredient, caraway seeds.  Perfect for those vintage Silver Bullets!
