Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sweet aromas of cooked apple, porridge and Dairy Milk Fruit & Nut lead with helpings of honeycomb and raspberry underneath. Creamy vanilla and allspice build with time.

Palate: Summer fruits boiled sweets, Werther's Originals and plenty of acacia honey form the core. There’s more vanilla and red fruit here as well as a firm oak influence throughout.

Finish: Drying oak spice takes more of a hold as the dram dissipates.

Overall: Lovely stuff from Cambus, packed with plenty of classic distillery character.

Independently bottled single grain Scotch whisky from the sadly closed Cambus distillery, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. After 25 years of maturation, the Boutique-y chaps deemed it worthy of joining their extensive range, and bestowed it a handsome label showing a snowy day by the Cambus iron bridge. The little robin has friends now - a family of snowfolk, along with a snowcat.

Batch 5 is a release of 349 bottles; these are bottles 280, 284 and 285.

The Cambus distillery dates back to the early 1800s - it was opened in 1836 in a village that shares its name near Alloa. Here it quietly produced its whiskies, becoming one of the first members of the Distillers Company Ltd. In 1913, a fire destroyed much of the distillery, forcing it to close until 1938. Cambus produced grain whisky, a lot of which made its way into blends, though you can still find independent bottlings of their single grain if you’re lucky (it’s fantastic stuff). The distillery was closed in 1993 by its owner, UDV.
